Simple Table to be refinished

After I whipped up homemade chalk based paint and brushed on a "hint of mint" this table came out oh- so - fresh!

I had originally planned to sell this beauty... But After all that work and those beautiful colors... I'm so in love with this one, I don't know if we will part...

I stumbled across this beautiful steamer trunk at a yard sale last week while driving to our town beach... had to have it and bring it back to life!

After a little bit of research it seems Henry Likly & Co was est. in 1844 and stopped production around 1925 in Rochester, NY.

Let the fun begin..... Stripping the painted canvas from the trunk using a putty knife and a razor blade.

Next is the sanding... grueling but worth it!

1st round of Sanding Complete....  still more work to do, but at least all  of that  painted canvas is removed!

Broken handle strap hook loops removed with a cat paw tool.
Wish they would have been intact the hardware was beautiful!  
Just purchased new leather straps and hook loop hardware to attach once I refinish it ....
